STEP 1. Start on either side of your
vehicle
Determine the position of the Tec-Bar on your vehicle.
There are two key factors in determining correct placement:
- How the bar is centered between the wheels
- Making certain that they are positioned
to be fully functional for all passengers.
STEP 2.
Determine the best location for
the Support Brackets.
Most applications require two brackets per side while some require three.
Check your installation kit to determine quantity.
If two brackets per side are included, they should be positioned
toward each end of the board and determined by two factors:
1.) Brackets should be positioned immediately outside the portion of the
bar that will support the weight of the passengers. The brackets cannot
be mounted on the extreme ends of the bar because the steel reinforcement
does not extend into that area.
2.) Locations selected should offer easy access to the reverse side of
the rocker panel for bracket attachment. (Refer to the bracket diagram
on the reverse side)
If three brackets are provided per side,
the third should be positioned approximately in the middle of the bar.

STEP 3.
Familiarize yourself with the Bracket Components.
Unpack the bracket components, review the bracket diagram on the reverse
side and familiarize yourself with each of the parts and how they fit
together.
NOTE: These universal brackets are highly adaptable and allow for
variable fitments. To a degree, you will be able to choose the placement
you prefer in terms of how low the bars are placed as well as the distance
from the rocker panel on your vehicle.
STEP 4. Bracket Assembly
and Attachment
STEP 4a.
(Refer to diagram, top of next column)
Attach the Hanger Strap to the Rocker Panel.
- In the predetermined locations, attach
the hanger straps using two smaller #10, 1" self-tapping tek-head
screws (one screw on each side of the strap). Position the hanger straps
as low on the reverse side of the rocker panels as possible.

|
CAUTION
|
| The rocker panels on some vehicles
contain electrical wiring and/or air conditioning lines. Before
drilling physically check for this possibility, and if they
exist, move them out of the way or alter your attachment. |
|
|
STEP 4b.
Attach the Frame Brace to the Bracket.
- Using one of the 1" black carriage
bolts provided, loosely attach the frame brace to the bottom
of the bracket as shown in the diagram (hand tighten only)
|
|
STEP 4c.
Attach the Bracket to the Hanger Strap.
Using one of the 1 1/4" carriage bolts provided, attach the bracket
with frame brace to the hanger strap. Tighten to a snug position only
(Do not fully tighten).
Optional Attachment:
(Refer to inset in diagram)
- The bracket may be attached to the outside
of the hanger strap as pictured in the large diagram.
- Or the bracket may be attached to the
inside of the hanger strap as pictured in the inset on the diagram.
This alternative mounting provides the option
of how close to the rocker panel the bar is positioned.
Mounting the bracket to the inside of the hanger strap will move
the bar further away from the rocker panel, while mounting the
bracket to the outside of the hanger strap will move the bar closer
to the rocker panel.
